My name is Kara Reid and I am an art director and graphic designer with more than 15 years of experience in both print and web design.
At the start of my career, I worked for Broadway in Boston where I was the designer for all print and web materials. There I gained extensive experience creating ads and large-scale signage for major theatre productions such as Mamma Mia, Medea, The Producers and more. I was also the photographer for all opening night events and was published several times in The Boston Globe and The Boston Herald.
To augment my career as a designer, I was involved in the installation of several public art projects around the country. For more than 4 years, I was the studio manager for public artist Mike Mandel, whose projects focused on transforming photographic imagery into large-scale ceramic tile mosaic murals.
After leaving Boston, I became senior designer and art director for Quest Fore in the South Side of Pittsburgh. There I was responsible for branding, packaging and ad concepts, as well as video, motion graphic animation and interactive design.
I graduated from Tufts University and The School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Mass., and hold a BFA in graphic design and photography as well as a BA in physical anthropology.
Born and raised in Pittsburgh, I have traveled across the country, working in places like Boulder, Colo., Portland, Maine, and Boston, Mass.. My husband Thomas (a Red Sox fan) and I (a Steeler fan) moved back to my roots a few years ago where we have been taking advantage of our "most livable city" ever since. When I'm not working, I spend most of my time running after my two girls, Hadley and Parker.
