My name is Kara Reid and I am an art director and graphic designer with more than 15 years of experience in both print and web design.
At the start of my career, I worked for Broadway in Boston where I was the designer for all print and web materials. There I gained extensive experience creating ads and large-scale signage for major theatre productions such as Mamma Mia, Medea, The Producers and more. I was also the exclusive photographer for all opening night events and was published several times in The Boston Globe and The Boston Herald.
To augment my career as a designer, I was involved in the installation of several public art projects around the country. For more than 4 years, I was the studio manager for public artist Mike Mandel, whose projects focused on transforming photographic imagery into large-scale ceramic tile mosaic murals.
After leaving Boston, I was a senior designer and art director for Quest Fore in the South Side of Pittsburgh. There I was responsible for branding, packaging and ad concepts, as well as video, motion graphic animation and interactive design.
I graduated from Tufts University and The School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, MA and hold a BFA in graphic design and photography as well as a BA in physical anthropology.
Born and raised in Pittsburgh, I've traveled across the country, working in places like Boulder, CO, Portland, ME, and more recently, Boston, MA. My husband Thomas (a Red Sox fan) and I (a Steeler fan) moved back to my roots a few years ago where we have been taking advantage of our "most livable city" ever since. When I'm not working, I spend most of my time running after my two girls, Hadley and Parker.
